We all have them. Routines, “daily routines”, weekend routines, weekly routines and so on. If you read all these “Self Help” articles. They tell you the most “Successful People” have routines and rituals that get them there. They “own” their day. While this may be true and they maybe successful from a “financial standpoint”. I wonder what they “feel” like? Do they genuinely feel good? It’s debatable. I spent some of the weekend watching this show “Flipping Vegas”. I don’t know this guy, but from the outside (what they show me) they are making money and our quite “successful”, but nobody seems “happy”.
But they DEFINITELY have a “routine” of what they do and how they do it and it WORKS! But in that routine is there any growth?
How does one grow?
Some will say physically, some will say spiritually. I say we grow MOST when we “change our routine”. School started for a lot of people today, my nephews included. They are BACK on their “routine”. They will be successful. But I wonder how they will feel?
Is your company growing? or do you feel “stuck” in the same “routine”? Routine brings discipline, but I don’t know if it brings “Growth”. To a degree it definitely does. Sales grow when you master your routine.
Let’s face it, true growth “hurts”, from child birth, to cutting teeth, to building muscles in the gym. The growing process while uncomfortable, is necessary.
In business, you have to decide “how” do you want to grow? Vertically? over different markets?
I watched this other show called “Blue Collar Millionaires” Most people that know me, no that I don’t watch a lot of t.v. I’m a reader. But this weekend, I changed my routine. It felt good. I was inspired by this show to think a little differently.
Growth and Inspiration go hand in hand. First, you get inspired, then you grow. Real quick synopsis, the guy wanted to be a rock star. So he moved out to Cali with his girl and his band. But quickly became broke. Married his girl, had a kid, had to make “grown-up” decisions. So he goes home to visit his dad and “Finds His Inspiration”. His dad had invented this curtain to separate sides of his auto body shop. The son loved the idea and saw the potential in it and went for it. Long story short, after hard work and time, the business TOOK OFF! This business was able to finance his other “original dream” to do music. In essence, he never gave up on what he really WANTED TO DO. And now ALL of his dreams are true!
Remember this, if you focus, work hard, don’t get afraid of growth. It can happen to you to!
